The founder of Jumpz is Richmond Victor Yuen aka RVY.
After he graduated from Staffordshire University with a 1st Class in BA
(Hons) Marketing, he was enthusiatic to take on the commercial world,
to be the next executive in the City. Things happens and environments
changes and goals stays the same. After a series of discussions with
his friends and families, he decided to start Jumpz ( A name he adapted
from his best friend Adrian, triple jumper who nicknamed himself adrian
+ jumpz) . The Jumpz Internet café idea originally sprung up in
December 1999 when he was looking for one himself.
A sum of savings, accompanied with a bank loan and a Prince's Trust
loan and last but not least a fantastic Prince's Trust mentor Mr.
Anthony Palmer (who left us on the 19th of July 2002, a tremendous loss
to Richmond as they spent days drinking coffee and chat in the early
days of Jumpz Internet Café), started the café trading on
the 24th of January 2001. Ultimately, the café was opened to the
public for the first time on the 22nd of February 2001.
What does Jumpz Internet Café actually do? Is
it just a café? Or it is just an Information Technology (IT) lab
for people?
So now let me tell you. It’s not just a
café or just an IT lab. It’s a synergistic combination of
computer and café to provide computer services and social
environment for the people in Staffordshire especially Stoke-on-Trent.
As a marketer researching in Stoke-on-Trent for a year, it had made me
developed a personal passion in developing the local community which
had been neglected.
Jumpz is not just an Internet café, the
internet café is a part of a diverse range of businesses of
Jumpz Group itself. Jumpz Group is looking at investing into various
businesses in the area as well as other innovative ideas, products and
services for its customers. To keep you updated, we will post the new
ideas and ventures of Jumpz on this website for your interests.
